The Anticipation of Rain is fine artist Naima Karim’s memoir and plea for global collaboration in a time of climate change. Having grown up in Bangladesh, the monsoon is a joyous and exciting experience for Naima, which have become unpredictable now.
A multi-sensory experience
Anticipation of Rain is the tale of Naima's extraordinary journey following her discovery of an autoimmune disease, intertwined with the monsoon rains and her profound connection to the solace found within the seasons’ cycles. Incorporating hand-painted visuals in virtual reality, immersive sound design and the evocative scents of rain captured in perfume bottles; enter the visceral experience of Naima’s transformative journey within the healing monsoon rains.
Lorna Inman - Technical Artist
In her role as a Technical Artist, Lorna played an influential part in refining The Anticipation of Rain, facilitating the shift from Naima's traditional use of acrylic paint on canvas to the creation of 3D artwork in the immersive world of virtual reality. Naima, renowned for her artistry on canvas, boldly ventured into the realm of immersive artwork with a strong vision. Leveraging Lorna's expertise, both technical and artistic, they transformed Naima's vision into a seamless reality, elevating her artistic process to new heights.
